Very knowledgeable staff, the tour was great. We seriously lucked out! We booked The Murder Room in December, it was a week before Christmas and we ended up being the only guests in the entire house. We could explore late at night and really got to enjoy the entire home to our selves. No spooky encounters but the home itself is charming and amazingly decorated.
The Lizzy Borden house is is really cool, they set up the place to be period correct. Our tour guide was the best, he spent allot of time going over the facts as he knew them. It is a must see if you are in the area !
Absolutely go and check out the tour! Even if you are sure you know the story of Lizzie Borden, it's even better told in the home and I guarantee there will be information you didn't know about. Our tour guide was exceptional! I have blanked his name, but his information and knowledge of the house and the events leading up to and after the murders is endless. He answered everyone's questions, even the weird ones. My husband and I held our daughter for the hour long tour, she's an easy baby, but I could see other children that don't like to sit still or keep their hands to themselves not enjoying this tour. The B&B doesn't allow children under 5 to stay overnight, otherwise we would have booked a room for sure. The house is in beautiful condition and the owners fill it with artifacts from the family as well as from the time period, including period accurate wallpaper. I loved hearing about how Andrew Borden remodeled the house from apartments into a home, and hearing about the time period. It's truly incredible to see this home, old as it is, standing among modern government and office buildings, in the middle of a town that has clearly moved on while it holds tight to its time period. You can tell the owners love this home very much and they love sharing it with anyone who is interested in seeing it. The gift shop is a little kitschy, I would have liked to see a little more selection, but the gift shop is not why we came, so it's at best a minor detail in the grand scheme. Make sure you take the homes driveway and park in the back next to the gift shop, don't park across the street at a two hour meter, you will lose track of time and end up with a ticket. We were the last tour of the day so our guide shared modern stories of what has scared him and other staff members. He was fantastic, make sure you tip your guide at the end, they have a TON of information to remember and deserve the kudos!
It has always been a dream of mine to visit the Borden home. This year, for a short vacation up north with my sister we were able to take a day tour and it was a really great experience! Tour guide was very informative and it was well worth the ticket price.
Just did a tour had a great time guide was nice. The gift shop had books and bobble heads. Got to go in the
Attic. Took good pictures. Shows amazing replicas of things...even the parents's heads!! Leaving you to wonder. Was Lizzie REALLY The one to kill Mr. and Mrs.Borden
